Hello & welcome from Laurence,

In late May 2011, I began cycling away from England – and all that I know – towards new horizons in the east. I am travelling alone, but have a spare seat on my tandem with which to share my adventure. If luck is on my side, I hope to reach Alaska by late 2013…but to get there, I’m going to need some help….!

The first month or so of this adventure was intentionally low key and gave me the opportunity to shake down the bike, test all equipement and do various rebuilds to this website so as to allow visitors to get more involved with all of my experiences on the road.

I am hoping that all of the blood, sweat, tears and emotional turmoil that I am surely going to experience over the next many, many months and thousands of miles will inspire you to stay in touch with my progress on a regular basis. So please do visit often and if possible send messages either by text, email, twitter, facebook or add Journal comments. These messages really do make such enjoyable reading at the end of the day as I relax over yet another disasterous cullinary experience.

Central to my expedition is my desire to raise as much money for my three chosen charities as I can; “If i’m going to cycle half way around the world in support of a particular charity, I’ll be damned if they squander money on administration fees!, fortunately all three of the charities I am supporting are exceptionally cost-effective” So please do consider making a donation, it really will help with the pedalling.

Cycling alone on a tandem bike isn’t the easiest of things. I dare say this trip would have been much easier had I have chosen to ride on a normal bike. However, I firmly believe that travel is a truly enriching thing for so many reasons , and I would love to be able to share the experience with others (whether friends, family, or complete strangers!). This website is dedicated to that purpose…so I hope you enjoy having a look around
